WALK THE TALK

I love walking to work in Rose Bay as the waterfront always lifts my gaze from my mobile phone daze.

Rose Bay, you know, 50 years of the CITY of Sydney running 2 the SURF whilst raising money for local charities. Rose Bay is kissed by calm ocean waves just before 'Heartbreak Hill' makes it very real for the runners as they descend to the end at Bondi Beach.

With Gary Meyers, you hear him before you see him. Gary greets people that he knows, when he enters a room. Not for attention, for a connection.

My Video Compilation

16 December, 2018 Gary found himself in the Emergency department at St Vincents Hospital Sydney having suffered a major heart attack that would change his life forever. His 'Heartbreak' recovery, more of a mountain than a hill. #TheJourneyOfAThousandMilesBeginsWithOneStep then Gary could walk again, he kept walking.

A humanitarian at heart, Gary's focus grew to the plight of live animal exports. He felt compelled to give a voice to those who can't speak. His objection was never forced on others, I like that. His direction was to walk in open spaces for the animals in confined living 'spaces' and export shipping. He "Walked The Talk". Newspapers have told his story.

Gary wants to go back to the time when it felt to him like it was the end, but it was a new beginning. To raise awareness and support for St Vincent’s cardiac rehabilitation. He is joined by his friends, Sutikshna, Warwick, Sally and Louise as they walk a staggering 60km in 12 hours from Vaucluse Lighthouse (near the famous "Heartbreak Hill") to Palm Beach Lighthouse. The team will start at 3am on Saturday, 19th of September.

They have already raised nearly 90% of their target, let's go above and beyond that. Help Gary and his fellow walkers by making a donation for cardiac rehabilitation- https://lighthouse2lighthouse.everydayhero.com/au/lighthouse2lighthouse
