Spring Into Action

I think I may have been this frog in a previous life. Day six of spring and no sign yet of anything being sprung. All in due course.

Soon it will be time to swap my light face cream (winter winds and the change of temperature from walking outdoors from heated rooms can dehydrate your skin. Especially after shaving my face) for a lotion as the days get warmer and my normal winter skin turns to slightly oily in the warmer months. Oil is good for your skin as it helps to prevent deep wrinkles from setting in. Strip your skin too much and your skin will over produce oil to your skin. Moderation is the key and some facial oils like Rose Hip oil can help to keep your skin balanced and more.

Spring clean your bathroom cupboards by checking the expiry date of last seasons cosmetics, sunscreens and makeup. Sun block and mascaras generally have a 6 month shelf life when they are opened. Your sun block may look fine, but it may lose its efficacy. SPF 30 last summer could be more like an SPF 20 or SPF 15 if you use it the following summer. The large value packs may not be a lot of value to you if you need to dispose of it in future unless you have a household that shares products. Save money and minimise landfill-win/win.

Most skincare have a shelf life of 12 months from when you open it, it is fine for you to use them again in 6 months time when the seasons change back. Please keep them in a cool and dark cupboard as heat and light can shorten their life span. The exception here is some aromatherapy products which need to be used within 6 months.

Please find the time to get a quick skin check up all over your body now before summer. I know we live even busier lives now, but too many customers have told me their story where they put it off and then had a scare when they had to get a skin biopsy to test something that the specialist finds irregular in terms of a possible skin melanoma. Have the quick test for your piece of mind.
