Ap'art'heid. The State Of Being Apart.

"Brain asymmetry is essential for proper brain function," professor Stephen Wilson of University College London told Live Science, a sister site of Life's Little Mysteries. "It allows the two sides of the brain to become specialized, increasing its processing capacity and avoiding situations of conflict where both sides of the brain try to take charge." I guess the same could be said for the "use my head or my heart" scenario. Gut feeling is a mixture of both perhaps?
Meeting people in the same industry as yours can make it a lot easier when it comes to understanding your work or the day to day challenges. It can also uncover instant objections. The same could be said of your friends or family who are occasionally try and "get you" but "they don't and we always fight".

Try and work hard with time frames to create boundaries for yourself in reference to the time that you "allocate" to your creative work.

Perhaps staying up to 2am and trying to "force" your creativity, and it doesn't come to you, isn't helping anyone. The contradiction here is that inspiration can hit you at anytime and you need to go with it then. For example a surfer doesn't go out when there are no waves to surf on, they wait, they do other things, check again..then BAM! "Surfs Up!". The waves are perfect, for who knows how long, go with it then, but look at how you spend your time otherwise.
Only 10 things?! Creative people may seem complex to others, but we all want the same thing. You figure that one out. Art isn't a rebellion, it is like a series of questions that you ask of the work that you do and hopefully that creates dialogue between those who get to see the finished piece-Painting, sculpture, poem, dance, photo, car, movie, music, makeup artistry, unique kitchen utensils for people with hand tremors..many different industries rely on creative minded people. We are the same, but different.

Hopefully your friends and family aren't subtly hinting for you to "get a real job"? That's ideology talking to them through their thoughts, coming from "well wishers" or the barage of what a "perfect world" looks like from commercials etc. That takes time for them to accept and mourn (Chronic Sorrow is a real thing*). They want us to be happy but the definition of what makes you happy is your own definition. It sounds selfish, but it's not, it's a part of you but not the sum of you.
"Working late, can't go", don't be predictable.
Back to time frames; if your world existed solely around your creative side avoiding all else, then you may just be selfish and you are not doing yourself any favours. Everything in moderation and remember that you are not alone.
